Anybody home? It's been about a week since anyone has posted in the game and I'm wondering what's going on. I understand that people are busy, I just want to make sure I'm not alone here.
I'm still checking every day just in case, but i think the game is paused. I will start a new game as soon as i finish polishing the new book, which I'm so close to being done!
Looks like everyone's got their characters made. Are there any final questions comments or concerns? If not I'll kick things off tonight when I get home.
Just to say thanks, man. It means a lot to me to be a player again! Wooo!!
I absolutely commit to posting once or twice a day, particularly at 8 AM and 6 PM from my train ride.
Lastly, I can rename this saga from "Discussion" to anything you tell me to, and that way all characters remain mapped.
Looking forward to this!
So who else is in this? And who looks like he's from The Omen?
[Preston eerily stares at the woman, a cockroach running over his knuckles.]
I'm ready to play. Let's do this.
wait, you got 31 character points and supernatural skills? I got a bad feeling about this...
edit: Oh okay. you got a spirit already. I didn't know we could start with one.
Jack: Sorry about the confusion, the other two started with spirits in their backstories, I figured it would be best to start you off with one as well. As per company policy Lydia knows nothing about her partner right now. If she wishes she can turn off the mute button on her P.T. module and have a chat. Since the others got to choose their spirits I feel it is only fair to ask who or what would you prefer as your spirit?
Forge: It'd be great if you could rename the saga to "The Legacy of Shadow".
Everyone: I will make sure to post at least twice a day. Likely between 10-11 A.M. and 11-12 P.M. EST
Actually I have to readjust the stats entirely. It's not balanced yet.
Oh yeah, she's trying to feel it out. I'm used to not starting with a spirit, so I thought that was the plan. What are the spirit guidelines? I can have a backstory and stats sent soon.
Everyone can go ahead and add 20 BP. Also we'll probably have another player joining us soon.
Just a quick checkup to see how everyone is doing. Is everyone enjoying the game so far?
Yeah, so far I like it. I keep checking it a bunch of times a day lol
I'm loving it :) I think I can actually have a ton of fun playing my character -he's crazy and unpredictable unlike Bernie, and he's not constrained by morality like Steve Irons who was a total boy-scout, and I have no idea what he wants beyond five minutes into the future, just like Vince. I'm set, man. I'm loving it.
The only thing I wish, and I realize it's not going to happen, is to use DESTINY instead of Jacob's Ladder. I got spoiled by how easy DESTINY is, now I wonder how did I ever cope with all the heavy crunchiness required by Jacob's :) Hah, but that's your deal as SH -as a player I'm happy either way!
Keep on keeping on man, I hope you're having fun too!
"Heavy Crunchiness" lol
I think we're fine. I'm going through a lot of life issues right now. My wife's very close grandmother died a couple weeks ago and my aunt who I spent time with in childhood died Monday, money issues and no food and no time. You know. Broken record.
But this game is one of the few things helping me cope right now. It's fun to just play story and not get caught up in the dregs of numbers. I like when the game is focused more on choices than stats. And so far each character is making very interesting choices.
This has been fun for me as well. I just wanted to thank you and everyone else again for letting my join in. I'm relatively new to RPGs in general but this is definitely simpler than the ones i have been a part of.
Also, any tips for role playing better? I'm trying to get into my character, but I feel like i'm not quite bringing him out enough.
Derek, take it from me as a guy who's been seeing online roleplay for over 15 years: you're a natural. You're very good at what you do. When I saw your first post, I almost laughed, not because it was funny, but because I was just so glad we had gotten such damn fine player to join us. Whatever you're doing: keep doing it :)
The character will come out. Just don't be afraid to let him grow... damn you should have seen the Red Wolf Saga, that shit got intense. Totally worth it, but frustrating at time and hell of emotionally draining sometimes too. But it was worth it. I was happy with the end result.
It's great to hear everyone's enjoying it. I've wanted to run a Destiny game for awhile, and if the opportunity presents itself, I'd like to transfer this game to that system. That being said I would only do that if everyone agreed to it and we had a good platform, which I don't think we have at the moment.
That being said, I think Jacob's does a good job of keeping the crunch on the SH side, leaving to players to focus on their characters, which all of you are doing and excellent job, at by the way.
Though in the future I think I'll start with the players already acquainted, since that leads to interesting character interaction and means I don't have to keep up with four different scenes.
Overall I'm having a great time. Don't be afraid to post any questions, comments or concerns on this page.
if it helps, we're closing in near ceasar's palace. So we could meet up anytime now!
Just a note for the future.
While having us each with our own goals and motives makes it more realistic, it is helpful from a game design perspective to give us a unified goal. As it is... I don't see a common thread of motivation between characters. That means taht even if we do meet, we aren't on the same page or have an incentive to work together.
I would suggest having Yuri be a sort of contact or something like that. Or maybe the rest are looking into this GTS stuff as well. They might be dealt a bad turn or attacked by another weirdly marked woodman. Something to bring us together and give us a common goal.
Then let our motivations split us apart later however they may.
How are things going? I figure it's been a few weeks since we started so It'd be a good idea to get some feedback. What do you like? What could be improved? How's Destiny coming?
Another thing I'd like to do at some point is to set up a session on Roll20 to try Destiny. Any takers?
I couldn't be happier, man!
The way it's worked so far, I write my first reply of the day in the morning commute, then sometimes during lunch, then sometimes during the evening commute, but usually I spend that time writing the second book. I'm in page 160, copy-pasting Tarot cards into the book. When that is done, I have to add artwork to all the little gaps in the pages. I'm also waiting for Adam Isailovic (the artist who's done all the org covers) to finish the last cover, which is looking awesome (is the helicopter scene over Hong Kong I described as an example in the book).
I'm game for roll20, but I'll be very shy because my real life accent is no better than Yury's, and I'm not nearly as resourceful as Yury or Vince in real time as opposed to PbP :) I'm also afraid my kids will be jumping around and making noise, lol, but let's try it! Best times for me are Saturday and Sunday evenings, after 7:30 PM EST. Btw, we should do a different story in Roll20, not this one... I feel this one has a good pace in the PbP as it is, and I'm afraid to experiment with it :)
I'm really happy man, game is going awesome. Having a blast with Yury, he finally came out on his own, and now I can See him as clearly as I did Vince, and they're very different people. Loving it.
Not sure why we're here when there's an amazing game happening one thread over! Back to this gripping drama about Russian mercs, psycho children, religious intrigue, and the company girl!
Plus I'm shameless and will throw myself into any game you set up.
I'm loving it as well. Sorry about the slow posting btw, =P Ive currently been traveling abroad for the past week so I can only post when I can.
I would love to try for the roll20, but I don't think I could schedule in a regular time, at least not right now.
;^; Ill eventually make it to the main group. Eventually.
Oh quick question for our SH, are we adding BP for successful hard rolls and subtracting for failed easy rolls? I wasn't sure.
Yeah, I'd be up for giving it a try, but I'd prefer if it was a one off sort of a thing.
I'm enjoying the PbP, but so far I'm having trouble getting "into" the story. Trying to figure out what my goal in it should be. It's not your fault, just not sure what to do.
The BP thing is tricky. I feel that the traditional way of getting points for succeeding checks might not work very well since we aren't rolling very many dice. We could use the vote system from Red Wolf, or something else. What do you guys think?
I'd say award points when it "feels" right. Like a character did something awesome or for a good scene.
Or have them refresh now and then so we can get them back when we use them.
