Rahman-Al-Rahman is an old Arabic scholar, high-ranking member of the secret Brotherhood of Pharos, and one of the few survivors of the Siege of Baghdad in 1258, where he saved as much as he could from the legendary House of Wisdom before the mongols razed the entire thing to the ground. He is strong for his old age, but he knows what happened to the original Library of Alexandria, and what will inevitably happen to Pharos too, one day.
He never married, he never had children, he never gathered much wealth, but rather like a true Pharos scholar he devoted his entire life to the pursuit of knowledge. Thing is, now in his old age the question of mortality has started to breathe down the back of his neck. Same as Alexandria and Baghdad. And so he searches for the secret of eternal life. Or at least that's what it looks like to outward appearances -in reality "eternal life" is just a stand-in for the concept of "permanence" for the concept of reversing entropy, which one day will consume the entire cosmos too -this he knows, both the real world and the spirit one. Typical Pharos searching for concepts.
To this end, he has mastered the use of Servitors. He is capable of giving his entire life force and strength to one Servitor (all of his cards) and have the Servitor go questing in all kinds of adventures while the old man silently meditates in the safety of his home and sees and hears and lives through the Servitor's senses.
